ABOUT RON ROACH
Ron, a self taught artist, has been painting on a commercial basis since 1984. Initially located in Torquay on the Surf Coast of Victoria, Ron’s work was primarily monochrome watercolour, reproducing Australiana scenes and people. He also did a lot of commissioned work for clients wanting old photographs reproduced and enlarged. Consequently most of his work was portraiture.
Moving to the Mornington Peninsula, via the North East High Country, Ron introduced color to his works and in the late 90’s started to experiment with oils and texture. As most of his work to that time had been portraits Ron entered the Archibald in 2001 and backed that up with entries over the following 4 years – without the ultimate success but a lot of fun.
Ron began small Exhibitions on the Mornington Peninsula starting in 2004 with Birds of Coolart with Bill Beavan and Eric Shepherd. He now has his own personal permanent exhibition in the Ron Roach Gallery with an ever changing collection of new works together with prints of works of years past.
